The ¡°Energy Options and Health Benefits: Beijing Case¡± project assesses the potential impact of different energy and environmental policies on pollutant emissions, CO2 reductions, pollutant exposure, and health impacts in Beijing Urban area. The study, coordinated by Chinese State Environment Protection Administration (SEPA), USEPA and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), was carried out by Tsinghua University and Peking University, School of Public Health.

The main Objectives of this meeting include: present the methodologies and results of IES Beijing case study; discuss how this study could be used to provide policy guidance to policymakers; Policy makers provide perspectives on the relevance and usefulness of the project for helping them to develop better policymaking; and explores the opportunities for extension of the Beijing Project and further collaboration.

The ¡°Energy Options and Health Benefits: China National Study¡± project will be launched in Nov 2003, as the 3rd phase of a series of the Energy Options and Health Benefits projects in China. The study, coordinated by Chinese State Environment Protection Administration (SEPA), USEPA and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), will be carried out by Tsinghua University and Peking University, School of Public Health.

The main Objectives of this meeting include: present the objectives and methodologies of IES China national study; discuss how this study can be carried out to support policy making; policy makers and technical experts provide perspectives on the workplan for helping research team execute this study more effectively.
